Monsey/Teaneck

I put Monsey and Teaneck together because there aren't that many restaurants in Monsey and there is a high chance of bumping into someone in those few restaurants so I would advise going to Teaneck which is close by with many options. From Teaneck go to: Manhattan . Come to Monsey/Teaneck from: Passaic, Manhattan.

ETC. is possibly the best kosher restaurant in the tri-state area. They are fancy and a meal for two will likely cost over $100, but it’s not much more expensive than other steak places and the food is twice as good. The ambiance is also nice. I’ve had a lot of steak in the last two years and ETC. is still my favorite.  I have suggested it to a lot of people and everyone has been pleased.  The chairs are really good, too. If you have to get engaged in a restaurant, this would be the place to do it.

Dairy Restaurants

Mocha Bleu

Mocha Bleu is a medium to fancy milchig place. The food is very good. They have a very modern feel to them – the dishes, the background music. Their kitchen closes early so you have to make sure to get there early (late afternoon to early evening – they’re better about this than they used to be)if you want to be seated. Make a reservation to be on the safe side. If you call ahead, they will tell you when the kitchen closes. You could also just come for the café. They have milkshakes, pastries, etc. and couches to sit on at the side, and they stay open even after the kitchen closes, so if you’re not interested in spending so much money but still want the atmosphere and something to do, it’s a good choice. I’ve been there a lot of times.

This is Noah's Ark's dairy place.  Has waiter service but very casual, cozy and relaxed.

Its one of those little kosher frozen yogurt shops, but located in a quiet, really nice part of New City, a 15 minute drive from central Monsey. The area has a really nice place to walk around with a lot of park benches and lamp posts along the way, and 16 Handles itself has great ice cream and a nice quiet sitting area. More of a casual date,  they are open till 9:30-10:30pm.   Not Cholov Yisroel.
