Games
Sometimes on a date you don't necessarily need to go to an especially fun place. You can just go to a nice quiet lounge, get two drinks, bring something to eat and play a nice board game. Here are some suggestions:
Scattegories
Scattegories is one of my favorite dating games. In the game you have a 23 sided die with letters on it. You spin the die, start the timer and start writing. In each round you are presented with 12 different categories and you have to think of a word from each category using the letter on the die. Then you compare notes with the other player.
Taboo
A classic game but on dates you can't really have a two on two, so the cards get conversations started and you don't really need to compete in Taboo to have fun.
Apples to Apples
Apples to Apples is another good game. Although once again, it won't really be competitive on a date, you do get to see how your date thinks and you can definitely get some good conversations started.
The Ungame
The Ungame is not really a game, it is a deck of cards with questions on it that are meant to be conversation starters. There are two sets of cards: one for the initial ice-breaking with lighter questions and one for further on in a relationship with questions that are a bit more personal.
There are a number of other card games which are good for dates. I will list them here but I will not go into a detailed description of each game:
You're Pulling My Leg: A game about telling stories about yourself.
Balderdash: 5 unique categories of random questions, very funny.
Imagine Iff: Imagine if so and so was a weather pattern...
Loaded Questions: I think the name speaks for itself (Loaded does not mean very intense).
Before playing any card game (even if it's a Jewish version) you may want to go through the deck to check for inappropriate cards and remove them.
